Intended Audience
Psychologists, Counselors, Mental Health Clinicians, etc. This course is designed for licensed mental health clinicians who have completed an approved EMDR Basic Training.

Course Outline
Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
Core Issues Arising from a High ACE interview score related to EMDR Treatment
Using the ACE questionnaire for specific Diagnosis / Assessment History Taking
Understanding the impact of ACEs on physical and mental health
Utilizing ACE concepts and target selection
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to identify that the impact of high ACE scores predicts a higher rate of compulsive disorders such as substance abuse; also, serious physical and mental illness which will help guide treatment planning and target development
Participants will be able to apply modifications to the standard protocol in the treatment of ACE survivors diagnosed with complex PTSD which are related to providing safety and call for a more comprehensive stabilization phase and potentially, for shorter processing sessions
Participants will be able to identify specific stabilization skills to help ACE survivors/clients stay “present” during processing
Participants will be able to identify that the impact of high ACE scores predicts a higher rate of compulsive disorders such as substance abuse as well as serious physical and mental illness which will help guide the clinician with treatment planning and target development
Participants will be able to describe that history taking based on the ACE interview provide for an individualized specific treatment plan that include attachment issues and interpersonal problems
Participants will be able to utilize specialized techniques in phases 1-2 to help patients develop emotional regulation and avoid re-traumatization in the health care setting
Participants will be able to identify that skills development combined with EMDR phase 4-7 work, such as rehearsal, imagery, screen work will be shown to enhance real time experiences with health care procedures

Carol Forgash, LCSW, BCD
Carol Forgash, LCSW, BCD is the director of Advanced Educational Productions. She is a Facilitator for EMDR Institute Trainings. She has a clinical and consulting practice in Smithtown, New York where she provides treatment utilizing EMDR and Ego State Therapy for complex PTSD, general psychotherapy, health issues, and performance issues.She is an internationally known lecturer and consultant on the integration of EMDR and Ego State work and psychodynamic treatment, the treatment of complex PTSD, and the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) legacies on the health and mental health of survivors.
In 2015 she was invited as a Plenary Speaker at the EMDR Europe Conference, and a Co-Presenter, with Jim Knipe at the EMDRIA Pre-Conference Day.Carol is the co-author and co-editor, (with Margaret Copeley) of Healing the Heart of Trauma and Dissociation with EMDR and Ego State Therapy (Springer, 2007). It has been translated into Italian and French (2015)

How to obtain your credits/certificates
Certificates are awarded online after completion of the workshop. To receive your EMDRIA credits complete the entire course and complete the post-test, then print your certificate. For CE credits, participants print their own certificate after registering at CE-Classes.com, entering a keycode, and completing an evaluation form. Click here to know more.
