Course Outline
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to state the difference between symptom reduction and comprehensive treatment.
Participants will be able to demonstrate several ways of doing bi-lateral stimulation to support a safe place and desensitization.
Participants will be able to state the differences between state shift and trait change, as a prerequisite for EMD.
Participants will be able to state how the Past, Present & Future - the three prongs, are used in EMD to find the appropriate memory to focus on.
Participants will be able to describe the process of return to image and taking the SUD’s number at the end of each set, maintaining stability within the window of tolerance.
Participants will be able to describe the enhancement of the positive cognition, and how to help the client reach the VoC number that is the most ecologically appropriate.
Participants will be able to list several ways to close down a session, including safe place, RDI or use of a container.

Donald F. deGraffenried, LCSW
Donald F. deGraffenried, LCSW, is in private practice in New Haven, CT specializing in the treatment of trauma and is also the Program Director for the Beth-El Center, a 34-bed shelter for the homeless in Milford, CT. He specializes in the treatment of complex PTSD with EMDR. He is an Approved Consultant and facilitator for the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program and the EMDR Institute and is a Part I HAP Trainer. In 2010 at the Annual EMDRIA conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mr. deGraffenried presented the workshop; “Working with Homicide Survivors In Community Mental Health: Effective Use of the EMDR Recent Event Protocol.” He is a passionate advocate for expanding EMDR into agency and community mental health settings and has designed an urban EMDR program for the treatment of homicide survivors. He is the author of several articles on home-based family interventions with multi-problem families. Most recently he provided EMDR training to agency practitioners in New York, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Carolina, Nevada, California, Connecticut and Illinois.

How to obtain your credits/certificates
Certificates are awarded online after completion of the workshop. To receive your EMDRIA credits complete the entire course and complete the post-test, then print your certificate. For CE credits, participants print their own certificate after registering at CE-Classes.com, entering a keycode, and completing an evaluation form. Click here to know more.
